IT writing contest for high school students launched

With the aim of popularizing the field of IT journalism among the youth, the IT Journalists Association of the Philippines Inc., also known as CyberPress, has teamed up with tech firm EMC Philippines to launch an IT writing contest to be held on February 29, 2008 at the STI Global City in Taguig.

Dubbed “CyberPress-EMC Write IT Right”, the competition is open to all public and private high school students in Metro Manila. Geared to become an annual event, the contest aims to get more young Filipinos interested in a career in IT writing, a highly specialized and evolving field of business journalism, by harnessing budding talents in an on-the-spot competition. This year, the contest is limited to 30 slots.

Prizes include a laptop for the student and a desktop for the school (first place), a desktop for the student and a six-in-one printer for the school (second place), and a desktop and fax machine (third place). The event host, STI, will also be providing 10 scholarship programs to the top ten winners.
