CyberPress elects new officers for 2010

During the organization's General Assembly last October 20 at the Microsoft Philippines headquarters in Makati City, the IT Journalists Association of the Philippines, also known as CyberPress, elected its new Board of Officers for 2010.

The new set of elected CyberPress officers for 2010 are the following:

President - Jing Garcia of Manila Times (2nd term)

Vice President Internal - Melvin Calimag of Manila Bulletin (2nd term)

Vice President External - Red Samar of Manila Bulletin (2nd term)

Finance Officer - Verns Joven of Philippin Star Online (2nd Term)

Constitutional Amendments Officer - Marlon Magtira of Business Mirror Online (2nd term)

Secretary - Alma Anonas of Philippines Graphic (2nd Term)

Membership Officer - Alora Guerrero of Techie.com.ph

The following were appointed by the elected officers as sectoral representatives:

Print - Tom Noda of Computerworld

Broadcast - Jayson Domantay of ABS CBN

Online - Arcie Estavillo of Business World Online

The new officers will be inducted at the Cyberpress Christmas Thanksgiving Gathering on December 18.

FAREWELL FETE FOR FLYING FEMMES

Saying goodbye is never easy, so the Cyberpress Party Peeps gave our members Arcie Estavillo, who is going on a sabbatical, and Jen Rubio, who is going on a hiatus, an Au Revoir Party that would make Hayden Kho envious. Juicy videos to be uploaded soon. Asa! :P

ITJAP MEMBER MAKES IT TO ONLINE TILT FINALS

Emmie Abadilla, a long time member of the Cyberpress has been chosen as one of 13 finalists from a field of over 20,000 international entrants in a contest sponsored by WAYN.com. The prize is a 10 day trip to South Africa.

She is one of two Filipinas who were chosen, the other being a certain Mimi Tagoon, 29 y.o, from Davao City. Only the Philippines has two candidates. The rest are from Canada, Poland, Norway, India, Serbia, England, Scotland, USA, Portugal, Japan, and Australia.

According to Abadilla, the finalists were picked based on their answer to the question: "What will you do if you win a free trip to South Africa?"

Though she and Tagoon have been chosen as finalists, the winner will be chosen via online votes. You may vote at faceofsouthafrica.wayn.com. Votes are limited to one per person, so you can only vote for Abadilla or the other, not both.

The contest is a joint initiative between WAYN.com and the South African Tourism agency.
